Tricia Follert, Town of Morristown

Tricia FollertTricia Follert is the Community Development Coordinator for the Town of Morristown, where she coordinates and implements activities for the town. She currently sits on three local boards, River Arts, Lamoille County Planning Commission and the Morristown Alliance for Commerce and Culture, and works closely with many local nonprofits on community projects. She is also actively involved in the community gardens, the rail trail and the arts.

Tricia will share events and happenings around Morristown, such as 10 weeks of summer music at Oxbow Park, 4th of July events, and RocktoberFest.

Todd Thomas, Town of Morristown

Todd ThomasTodd Thomas has a Master’s Degree in City Planning from Boston University and has worked both in Massachusetts and Vermont as a consultant and as a land use planner for town government. Todd is currently the Planning Director for Morristown, Vermont.

Todd’s recent work includes helping to revitalize downtown Morrisville, making it the fastest growing city and/or historic downtown in the State since the 2010 Census. Todd attributes much of the downtown’s housing and population growth to zoning reform as it relates to minimum parking requirements.

Steve Ames, Building Bright Futures

Steve AmesAs the Regional Coordinator for Building Bright Futures, Steve staffs The Lamoille Valley Building Bright Futures Regional Council, a volunteer committee focused on the well being of young children and their families. There is one such Council in each of twelve regions of the State. Steve also works with the Playroom in Morrisville.

Steve lives in Elmore and is the father of three kids ages 12, 15 and 21. He teaches skiing at the Stowe Mountain Resort and for many years, he ran River Arts.

He writes about early childhood, families, community, play, and equity.

Social Determinants of Health

Live Well Lamoille is a community collaboration. Folks throughout our community are contributing to share ideas, information, and perspective in hopes of building a healthier community.

So many factors contribute to “health.” Certainly it includes making sure you see your doctor and things like monitoring your weight and blood pressure. But there are many more things that can affect your health: a network of friends, clean water, access to nourishing food, housing, literacy, and an environment that encourages walking, to name just a few.

The idea for this blog came from a community meeting with people that represented all these different aspects that contribute to our health. So often the clinical aspect of healthy living is held separate from the more social aspects of healthy living. Why not create a shared space and invite our community to share in the dialogue?

And so Live Well Lamoille was created. Our bloggers include:
